Sheriff Jim Denney (ret.) has been the Executive Director of CSSA since April 2008. Prior to that, he served 36 years in law enforcement, including being elected to three terms as Sheriff/Coroner/Public Administrator of Sutter County (California). Prior to assuming his elective office he served 8 years as the Undersheriff for the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office.

During his tenure as Sheriff, Sheriff Denney served on the Board of Directors for CSSA. He was Committee Chair of the Sheriff/Coroner Committee and served as a committee member of both the Legislative and Political Action Committees. He is a Life Member of both the California State Sheriffs’ Association and the California State Coroners’ Association.
