New Sex Offender Registration PC 290 Charging Codes

On Saturday, October 13th, the Governor signed emergency bill SB 172. The bill provides for new Penal Code section 290 charging codes. At the direction of the Attorney General’s Office, the new codes are to be immediately implemented. Two files are attached below. The first one is a charging cheat sheet. The second is a PC 290 code reorganization chart, which will provide easy quick glance information to field personnel. The new law simplifies what was a very confusing Penal Code section. Important Note: This is for information only. If a department is going to implement the changes in the attached files, it is suggested that you check with your District Attorney.
