Job Description The Fresno County Sheriff's Office is recruiting for the position of Special Sheriff's Investigator. Successful candidates will be responsible for conducting investigations related to employment backgrounds and special licensing qualifications; and performs related work as required.

As a condition of employment, the Fresno County Sheriff's Office requires candidates to undergo and pass a personal background investigation and polygraph examination. The background investigation includes employment/credit history, arrest/criminal records, drug/alcohol use, reference/neighborhood check and personal conduct. This list is neither inclusive nor exclusive; other relevant areas may be investigated and verified.

Note: Temporary (extra-help) employees are paid an hourly rate for actual hours worked, are not entitled to benefits, do no obtain permanent status and serve at the will of the department head.

Positions in this classification are in MEDICAL GROUP I - Light Physical Activity (Personnel Rule 8). This group includes positions which require only light physical effort and may include lifting of small, light objects and some bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and reaching. Considerable walking or standing may be involved.

Eligible candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications Experience: Fifteen (15) years of full-time, paid law enforcement experience equivalent to that gained as a Deputy Sheriff, one (1) year of which involved conducting investigations. OR

Fifteen (15) years of full-time, paid work experience equivalent to that gained as a Correctional Officer in a public correctional agency, one (1) year of which involved conducting investigations. Your application must clearly identify how you meet the requirements as listed above with a detailed description of relevant duties or your application will not be accepted.

License: Possession of a valid Class "C" driver's license, or equivalent.

Other: As a condition of employment, selected candidates will be required to obtain and maintain security clearance to access Fresno County detention facilities.
Compensation $30.42 Hourly
