Job Description The Chief Investigator position is an excellent career opportunity for an exceptionally qualified and highly motivated individual with strong management skills in law enforcement.

This is an unclassified management position in the San Diego Office of the District Attorney. The Chief Investigator leads the Bureau of Investigations in fulfilling the mission of the District Attorney's office which - in partnership with the community it serves - is dedicated to the pursuit of truth, justice, and protection of the innocent, and the prevention of crime through the vigorous and professional prosecution of those who violate the law.
Qualifications Qualified candidates will possess a California Advanced P.O.S.T. certificate and 20 years of experience as a peace officer as defined in California Penal Code section 830.1, of which one year must have been in a management level position as one of the following:

1) A Captain or higher in any Police or Sheriff's Department; OR

2) A District Attorney Investigator V (Commander) or higher, in the San Diego County District Attorney's Office.
Compensation $150,000 - $250,233
